Google Bard AI Assistant to be Rebranded as Gemini

Google is reportedly planning immediate changes to its Bard chatbot, including a new name: Gemini.

The Update: Alphabet Inc., Google's parent company, has been actively launching new features in the competitive AI landscape. One significant change involves rebranding its Bard AI assistant as Gemini. This information comes from a leaked document shared on X (formerly Twitter).

Android app developer Dylan Roussel revealed the changelog dated February 7, which includes details of the upcoming Gemini app for Android. Although Google has not officially confirmed this, the document suggests significant changes are on the horizon.

Roussel shared on social media:

"Google added a new changelog for Bard, and — oh boy — it's a big one! The availability in Canada is awesome! That said, I don't really understand the limitations with the app. That's disappointing as someone who lives in Europe."

Leaked Details: According to the document, the new Gemini Advanced version will offer access to Gemini Ultra, an enhanced model capable of handling complex tasks such as coding, logical reasoning, nuanced instruction following, and creative collaboration. This update is set to roll out in over 150 countries, initially optimized for English speakers. The changelog also indicates that the Gemini app will soon be available in Canada with version 1.0.

Simplifying AI Services: Google has already integrated Gemini within Bard, but this rebranding might simplify Google's AI offerings, making them more straightforward compared to the streamlined services of OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Google has described Gemini as "the next step of our journey" into AI, highlighting its advanced capabilities.

Future Expectations: Gemini, Google's dominant AI brand, might fully encompass Bard. While the names of Gemini's three layers—Ultra, Pro, and Nano—are not expected to change, removing Bard might clarify Google's AI service offerings.
