Qualcomm Technologies, in collaboration with Saudi Arabia's Aramco Digital, introduced the first-ever processors to support 5G in the 450 MHz spectrum. This breakthrough will provide robust and reliable coverage, ensuring seamless connectivity for millions of IoT devices, both indoors and outdoors.
The new Qualcomm processors, QCS8550 and QCS6490, are designed to offer comprehensive 5G modem-to-RF solutions, incorporating the modem, RF transceiver, power amplifier, and other key components. These solutions enhance performance and expedite the development of 450 MHz-enabled IoT devices, such as rugged smartphones and industrial handhelds.
Tareq Amin, CEO of Aramco Digital, shared his excitement about the collaboration: "We are thrilled to work with Qualcomm Technologies to bring this pioneering 5G technology to Saudi Arabia, advancing our digital transformation initiatives."
Nakul Duggal, General Manager at Qualcomm Technologies, emphasized the importance of the 450 MHz frequency band: "This spectrum is highly effective for both outdoor and indoor coverage, and it's a key part of our strategy to drive the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's digital transformation."
In addition to the new processors, Qualcomm and Aramco also announced the launch of the "Design in Saudi Arabia" program. This accelerator aims to support AI and IoT startups, fostering industrial innovation and digital transformation in Saudi Arabia. The initiative is being launched in partnership with Saudi Arabia's Research, Development, and Innovation Authority (RDIA) and will focus on industrial use cases leveraging AI, IoT, and wireless technologies.
