Amazon Unveils AI-Powered X-Ray Recaps on Prime Video to Offer Spoiler-Free Summaries

Prime Video is introducing a new AI-powered feature, "X-Ray Recaps," designed to provide spoiler-free summaries of your favorite TV shows. Instead of risking spoilers by searching online, viewers can access brief recaps for episodes, seasons, or even specific scenes—all while Amazon’s AI tools work to avoid giving away key plot points. Currently in beta, this feature is available to U.S. Fire TV users, with a broader rollout planned for the end of the year.

Amazon's X-Ray Recaps expand upon its existing X-Ray feature, familiar to many Prime Video users as a tool that reveals cast and trivia details when paused. With X-Ray Recaps, users can access show summaries directly on the title's detail page, with the choice to recap individual episodes, a full season, or even previous seasons. Amazon has stated that “guardrails” are in place to prevent the AI from generating spoilers, ensuring that viewers enjoy their favorite shows without unwanted information leaks.

Initially limited to Amazon MGM Studios titles, including Daisy Jones & the Six, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, The Wheel of Time, and The Boys, the feature will expand to more shows and devices by the year’s end.
