Summary

Retail technology and software provider CDK Global has initiated the process of restoring its systems after a significant cyberattack disrupted operations at over 15,000 retail locations across North America. The company announced on Sunday that full restoration could take several days.

"We remain fully engaged with our customers, offering alternative methods to continue their business operations," CDK stated in an email. Last week, a dealer shared that CDK had indicated it might take additional days to restore all systems.

CDK Global, which supplies software solutions to car dealerships, temporarily shut down all systems on Wednesday to investigate the cyber incident.

Major U.S. auto retailers Sonic Automotive and Penske Automotive reported operational disruptions on Friday as CDK experienced a third day of outages.

Bloomberg News reported that hackers responsible for the attack are demanding millions in ransom to cease their activities.

CDK Global was acquired by investment firm Brookfield Business Partners in April 2022 for $6.41 billion, taking the last significant publicly traded automotive software provider private.
